DevOps Engineer

This position is responsible for the deployment and maintenance of a cloud-based SaaS solution.

The successful candidate must have a B.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent), plus a

minimum of 2 years’ experience in developing, deploying and maintaining large based SaaS solutions is also required to be considered for this position.

Responsible for deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting and improving the systems

that keep the backend infrastructure running smoothly. The role requires you to have hands-on

technical experience and a can-do approach towards environment automation / management

and continuous improvement.

The role will encompass the use of a broad range of Cloud, Rackspace, AWS technologies, and LAMP application environments. Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Core Role Responsibilities:

• Monitoring everything to ensure all systems are up which includes external websites and as well as internal tools, and integration api's with third parties.

• Regularly checks and monitors alarms, diagnoses symptoms, analyzes root causes, and employs preventative measures to avoid reoccurrence of similar issues.

• Takes ownership and accountability of the performance and reliability of all the services that the business manages.

• Write code to build tools/dashboards to have constant views into everything, so things are more proactive instead of reactive.

• Play an active role in building and improving the backend services, websites, and applications while hosting and managing databases.

• Troubleshoot complex issues as quickly and effectively as possible. Would have full understanding of websites and software capacity planning requirements and would work to ensure that sites/software are deployed in a scalable architecture.

• Designing and develop the business’s infrastructure architecture as well as developing automated scripts meant for building development and production environments.

• Design and build automation frameworks for the deployment, management, and monitoring of web-based business services and platforms.

• Work hand-in-hand with the development team in creating solutions for the purpose of deploying and monitoring sites/software/applications. In his collaborative capacity, the DevOps Engineer will also be supporting technical teams by using technical analyses in order to improve the scalability and reliability of entire system.

Required Skills and Experience:

• DevOps: Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools.

• Scripting Skills: Strong scripting (e.g. Python,PHP) and automation skills.

• Operating Systems: Linux system administration.

• Monitoring Tools: Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g. Nagios, New Relic).

• Problem Solving: Ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues.

• DB Skills: Basic DB administration experience (MySQL).

• Networking: Understanding network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP).

• Professional commitment to high quality, and a passion for learning new skills.

• Detail-oriented individual with the ability to rapidly learn new concepts and technologies.

• Strong problem solving skills, including providing simple solutions to complex situations.

• Must be a strong team player with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a geographically disperse working environment.
