Job Description:              

The director of Digital Analytics and Optimization for Arizona State University will be a data evangelist who is able to lead the ASU digital analytic ecosystem. In this position, the director will emerge as the university's top expert in this cutting-edge field and will draw upon a combination of deep knowledge of digital analytics and understanding of what it takes to develop best-in-class digital user experiences (UX). The director must be a skilled communicator who can translate complex systems and bring data-based recommendations to life to technical and non-technical staff through one-on-one consulting, workgroups, training programs, large-audience presentations and executive-level briefings. The typical day-to-day focus of the director will be to oversee the implementation and utilization of enterprise digital analytics, support enterprise search engine optimization (SEO), develop standard reports and dashboards. The director will routinely work with a variety of vendors and internal staff to provide the technical implementation of tools, on-board new users, provide training and create reports. The director will routinely be researching trends, generating reports and making recommendations through the use of industry standard tools such as Google Analytics Premium, Adobe Analytics, MOZ, Crazy Egg, and TrackMaven. This will include e-commerce/conversion tracking and managing events and goals in the enterprise accounts.

 

Essential Duties:             

Facilitates decision-making by producing various web and social media analyses. This includes preparing technical, content and competitive digital analytics audits for ASU; monitoring, tracking and reporting on web and campaign performance analytics based on KPI targets, rankings, ROI; and making recommendations for opportunities for improved performance.

Manages projects related to digital analytics and ecommerce (lead generation, ticket sales, membership sales, and retail sales) by preparing and maintaining implementation plans, troubleshooting, reporting issues and ensuring reporting tasks are completed.

Works with and oversees the technical implementation of web satisfaction tools such as Foresee.

Serves as a liaison between project teams, technical teams and contractors to ensure accurate analytic reporting (including campaign tagging and attribution) and action-based recommendations.

Supports functional users by on-boarding them into dashboards, developing comprehensive reports, training materials and routine updates.

Supports end-users through on-call support and problem resolution, as needed.

Writes business process documentation and training materials related to SEO and web analytics best practices.

May deliver presentations and training regarding digital analytics findings and tools.

Provisions and tracks access to a variety of tools include digital analytics and SEO accounts.

Consults with ASU units to gather requirements and design solutions to address Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and web analytics reporting.

Provides expertise in testing design and coordinates performance of tests.

Keeps abreast of latest PPC and SEO products, services, information and trends. Keeps current with algorithms, trends and features related to search analytics; proactively inform leadership of new developments and recommendations.

Assists with building and launching of new websites as it relates to SEO and web analytics.

May be responsible for training and mentoring student workers and staff.

 

Minimum Qualifications:            

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND eight (8) years of related experience as a computing professional, which includes five (5) years of management/supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications:

Evidence of a Master's Degree in Business Analytics, Business Administration, Marketing, Information Technology or a related field preferred but not required.

Experience in working with Digital Analytics (Google Analytics Premium preferred).

Experience in using Search Engine Optimization tools (MOZ preferred).

Experience in operating from a UX lens; using metrics that will prove design is meeting users needs and identifying gaps UX teams can use to improve design.

Experience in creating reports and on-demand dashboards using tools such as Tableau.

Demonstrated knowledge of the technologies influencing digital analytics, including JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, HTML, etc.

Experience in effectively communicating complex and technical information in simple terms to a wide variety of audiences.

Experience in successfully managing multiple high priority projects simultaneously.

Experience in creating written reports, presenting to a variety of stakeholders, and maintaining strong working relationships.

Experience in working in a highly collaborative environment.

Demonstrated knowledge of principles and techniques used in SEO and web analytics reporting.

Experience in implementing a variety of analytics and SEO products.

Experience in using conceptual and creative skills, and visualizing and translating the needs of the marketplace into business opportunities.

Experience in using analytical skills, with a strong detail orientation

Experience in examining market research information and translating it into effective strategies and programs.

Evidence of a strong service orientation and disciplined work ethic.

Experience in instilling a high standard of excellence to the overall marketing team.

Experience in forging productive working relationships with a broad range of personality types and styles.

Evidence of a "Hands-on", roll-up-the-sleeves" mentality and "does what it takes" attitude to drive success.

 

Working Environment: 

Located at Centerpoint, 660 S. Mill Avenue, Tempe.

Activities are performed in an environment in an environmentally controlled office setting and include regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.

May need to travel moderate distances for meetings and to perform work.
