Claims Advocate (Commercial Lines)
Position Overview
The Claims Advocate position is responsible for serving as the liaison between client and insurer regarding all claim matters for our lower tier Commercial Lines Claims book. Claims Advocates take a proactive approach to advocate on behalf of clients for the best possible claim outcome and employ best efforts to ensure that the clients’ interests are protected by policies of insurance placed by Lovitt & Touché.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing all aspects of a claim including: evaluate applicable coverage; enter claim into agency management system; prepare loss notice and report claim to carrier (if applicable); follow up on a regular basis to make sure claim is progressing; keep insured and producer updated on status; update agency management system with updated information
- Coordinate between client and insurer to discuss all aspects of coverage and assist with resolution of coverage issues which may involve on-site visits
- Take proactive role in client advocacy in all aspects of claims
- Assist with needs assessments as to establish reporting procedures and service commitments
- Provide technical expertise in response to client inquiries concerning claim matters
- Provide client with claim status reports; review and maintain claim files as needed or required by service commitments
- Schedule and participate in formal claim reviews, stewardships, client presentations as needed or required by service commitments
- Notify underwriting of accounts with adverse claim history that may need attention during renewal process
- Identify trends in claims and notify management and loss control to help facilitate a resolution
- Interface with other departments to ensure effective communication and operation; provide technical support to other Lovitt & Touché departments; maintain high standards of client service
- Maintain current knowledge of insurance contracts, industry trends, attend seminars, workshops, training programs, as necessary and appropriate
- Assist in renewal process by obtaining loss runs as needed
- Conduct all business in accordance with established policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3-5 years commercial claims adjusting experience in the areas of Property, General Liability, Premises Liability, Auto, D&O and/or EPLI
- Active Arizona Property/Casualty or Adjuster License (or ability to transfer existing license)
- Working knowledge in areas of investigation, reserving and coverage analysis
- Ability to negotiate with the adjusters to positively impact the outcome of a claim
- Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, to internal and external parties
- Excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, carriers and peers
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
Preferred:
- Some college or technical training in related discipline
- Prior EPIC experience
Working Environment
- Work is performed indoors in a climate controlled office environment
- General technology as it relates to office administration
- Regular business hours with additional hours required during certain periods
- Occasional travel to client sites
