Compliance Specialist

Job Description

As a Compliance Specialist, your primary responsibilities will be to execute the Compliance policy and program as it relates to high risk business categories. This highly specialized position will work with customers in high risk business segments and review their policies and procedures as it relates to our regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate regulatory risk for PayPal.

The position will require advanced analysis of regulatory issues, including review of customer processes and the identification of deficiencies and assistance with correcting such deficiencies, when appropriate. The Compliance Specialist must stay current with all applicable regulations and required reporting duties. This position will work closely with the Policy Team, and requires the use of independent judgment in interpreting the need for intensive and more detailed examination of facts surrounding high risk businesses, and the potential risk they pose to PayPal.

The duties require excellent interpersonal and professional business writing skills, as there is significant interaction with other PayPal departments, customers, and other external parties. This position will require customer contact, and requires the utmost professionalism and courteousness at all times.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Review of highest risk accounts and/or transactions identified by internal or external means
• Apply strong analytical and decision skills to exercise judgment in ambiguous scenarios
• Conducting extensive research utilizing available tools, systems, and the internet, consistent with the resolution of cases
• Assessment of client profile data against hits to ensure normal and expected activity
• Document decisions and recommendations in Case Management system in required format for SAR filing, management, audit and regulatory review and prepare reports to management as required
• Handling of sensitive inbound and outbound calls using interview techniques
• Promptly escalating critical or reputational risk matters
• Support special projects and initiatives, as needed
• Ensure that customers are complying with policy as defined in PayPal's Terms of Use
• Ensure that Anti Money Laundering regulations are adhered to and monitor account activity accordingly
• Process queue items in a timely manner as measured against communicated departmental targets
• Maintain acceptable error rates as set by SA&E
• Maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with PayPal personnel and customers always
 

Skills & Responsibilities

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Compliance department of a financial institution or like organization, with working knowledge of regional compliance regulations
• A Bachelor's degree is preferred in Finance, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Criminal Justice or a comparable field.
• AML Certificate preferred
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working in an AML or fraud risk environment
