Job Description

This posting has been designated by the Company as a “Hard-to-Fill” position and therefore is eligible for a $10,000 signing and retention bonus under the terms and conditions of the executed LOMA dated 04/03/2018. 

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED
  • Successful completion of an approved apprenticeship program and possession of a valid card or certificate of Electrician Journeyman status, which will be verified prior to qualifying applicants
  • Considerable experience performing journeyman-level high voltage substation duties with an electric utility or other entity operating and maintaining high voltage substation equipment preferred
  • This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 300 lbs or less

Special Requirements

  • Must currently have a valid manual Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with no mechanical restrictions.
  • Must live within reasonable distance from assigned Headquarters.
  • Subject to overtime and or/ out-of-town assignments

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications

  • Experienced in writing and executing switching orders, and basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • The ideal candidate filling this vacancy must be self-motivated, communicate and work well with others, and possess a positive attitude with the highest commitment to work safety.

  • Copy of your Registered Electrician Journeyman Apprenticeship Program Completion Certificate* OR Official Letter** from HR Management or a member of the company’s operations leadership (stating: your job title, roles and responsibilities, and length of time you spent in that position, etc.). 
  • Copy of your manual transmission Class A CDL license (front and back and IN COLOR) * note - no mechanical restrictions i.e.., air brakes, etc.
    *Registered Apprenticeship Program Criteria: Program must have a documented process for hours worked in the field in the work processes associated with the craft e.g. distribution, transmission, maintenance, etc.  Registered apprenticeship programs for the trades in question require 7,000 – 10,000 hours (3 -5 years).  Program must have documented proof of completion of related education classroom courses.  Registered apprenticeship programs require a minimum of 144 hours per year of related education courses during the course of the apprenticeship program
    ** Journeyman level experience must be documented in writing if you are unable to provide us a certificate of completion of Registered Apprenticeship.  This will require a letter on company letterhead documenting your title, details of your roles and responsibilities, and length of time in that position.  It must be signed by an operations or HR manager.  This information will be subject to verification.

Testing Information

 

Tests are only administered to referred candidates. More information about our tests and the testing process can be found HERE.

 

A written [paper and pencil] test will be administered.
A test using a computer with keyboard will be administered.
A hands-on skills test will be administered.
