How To Find The Best Phoenix Home Security System

Finding the right Phoenix home security company can be tough.  Although prices may vary, and equipment may look different, one thing you need to remember is that they are all doing the same thing.  The job of a security systems is to alert and notify the police, fire or medical units that there is an emergency.  You have to understand, that is the basics, and there really isn't much difference.  Now, with that being said, there are some cosmetic differences and a few features that are going to make using an a alarm system more convenient.  There is more to security that just alarm systems, make sure to add more to your home such as, security doors, wireless webcams, wireless security cameras.

Pricing

The monthly cost is usually the biggest difference you are going to see.  We recommend to look for the company that is going to give you the lowest monthly rate.  If you are paying over $34.99 a month, you need to shop around and find something better.  You may pay higher than that by about $5 if you need to use a cellular device.  As for the equipment, you may see some companies trying to charge you for it, plus for the monthly monitoring...DON'T PAY! There are too many companies out there that will give you this equipment for free.  With that being said, you need to understand this doesn't mean you get an unlimited amount of equipment for free.  You should however, get all of your doors covered, 2 motion detectors, and at least one wireless remote.  This is the minimum for free.  Sometimes if you negotiate hard enough, you can get them to throw in a smoke detection.

Product

There are 2 main manufacturers that security companies use.  Honeywell and GE both make about 90% of the alarm equipment.  We recommend using the Honeywell Lynx 2 Panel.  This unit offers some key features that will assist you arming your home.  It is wireless, and most importantly uses 2-way voice.  We will talk more about that in the Services section.  The best GE unit you could have installed is the Simon XT panel.  Both of these units will allow you to take on any existing wireless and hard-wired equipment.

Service

There are about 3 main services that you should look for when getting an alarm system.  The first and most basic is a digital monitored system.  This is the most popular type.  When the alarm is tripped, it only sends out a digital signal to the alarm company that something is wrong.  The monitoring company will then call the home and the emergency contact list to verify the emergency.  If the alarm is not confirmed, the Police will be notified.

2-way Voice- This is the exact same service as the digital service, however, instead of calling on the home phone to verify the emergancy, the monitoring company calls you through the alarm panel.  This is a great way to go if you have a regular land line telephone.  If there were an intruder in your home, this lets the monitoring company verify quicker and more effective that there is an emergency.

Cell- This system is for homes that use digital cable or don't have a phone line.  It is exactly how it sounds.  They system runs off of a GSM system that sends out a cell signal to the monitoring company that they alarm has gone off.  Good idea to put on any system.  If for any reason you have someone cut your phone lines, this will get you connected with the police, where as if you use just a land line, your system wouldn't be able to send the signal out.

When looking for Phoenix home security companies, make sure to check your local BBB to get a reputable company.  It is in fact, worth your SECURITY.

How To Find The Best Phoenix Home Security Company

Phoenix Security Securing what's most important inside.

What most people think they know, BUT don't!

Having your home where you can close your eyes and sleep soundly, not worrying what any noises outside are, is rare. There are those that should be sleeping with one eye open, that have a false sense of security inside their home. I will show you specific ways to increase your home's security.

Security Camera Systems

Right now many of you are thinking to yourselves, "that's exactly what I need." WRONG! If you haven't thought that before, you will soon, and please remember this article. Cameras are good for recording, they aren't good for waking you up if someone picks your front door. What camera do you know of that calls the police while you are away and someone comes through your back slider? Fact, most cameras do not record with enough clarity and resolution to convict an intruder. They need to be caught in the act.

Camera systems are expensive, especially if you get hooked into buying inferred with a recorder. Not worth the money. The best thing they are good for is a deterrent. So go find some fake camera and install it over all of your doorways. A deterrent is usually your best security.

Home Security Systems

Don't you just love to see those precious ADT adds on late at night during your local news? Now that's good timing. Right after all the violence coverage, here's ADT to the rescue. Getting a security system is not a bad idea. Do not get tricked into paying a dime for the equipment. There are plenty of companies that look forward to taking your monthly payments and don't require that cash upfront. Remember, get the cheapest monthly possible! Don't pay high fees for name brand companies. The services are all the same...they call the police. Security systems don't save you, they inform you and others as quickly as possible. Some things I would suggest with getting a home security system:

  • Cell back-up. Cutting your phone line is very popular.
  • External siren. Get the loudest one possible. This could be the single thing that saves you if you are in your home alone and need help.
  • Panic button or remote by your bed. Have a secure place to keep it and where you know it will always be. Don't be nieve and think you can just pick up the phone. remember tip #1, cut phone lines?
  • Windows on ground level always need to be covered. Look outside and see how many objects are easily picked up and thrown through a window. Toys, flower pots, garden rocks, flower bed bricks, etc.
  • Don't forget fire. This one scares me the most. When you get a bad fire, you don't just lose your tv's, computers, maybe some jewlery...you lose it all. Smoke protectors are not enough, get the monitored fire alarms for you home.

Pets

This might be my favorite one, and funnest one to laugh at when I do security walk throughs with families. Look at this diagram. Notice how much of that can be protected with a dog. Now here is the funny part, do NOT think that your 4 ounce little yapper is going to stop some determined thief. If that were the case, why not get a hamster for you basement windows too. The cleaning would actually be a ton easier. Come on people. The police don't use a Yorkie now do they? Get a dog that weighs at least 40lbs. They are your best security for the entire back yard to your home. I would say this is the best security hands down. While you're looking at the diagram above, notice though all the little entrance ways someone could come into your home. It is your home, you know it the best. Take the time to take a birds eye view and protect your family.
